About Scott

What do you get when you integrate a passion for electronics and programming with a career in dentistry? My name is Scott Harden, and this website documents my life.
scottDent
I was born on Sep 24, 1985. Here’s a semi-current photo of me. My wife is pictured with me further down on the page. We’ve been married since December of 2007.

scott-harden

At the time of this writing, I am ~23.5 years old. I have an Associate’s degree in biology, a Bachelor’s degree in zoology, and a Master’s degree in molecular biology and microbiology (which is surprising, considering that I hate DNA and many other biomolecules. My master’s thesis (publicly inaccessable / protected for 5 years) is entitled “Microscope Analysis of Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Distribution, Terminal Morphology, and Interaction in Whole-Mount atria of C57BL/6 Mice”. I am starting dental school at the University of Florida, and hope to get my DMD in 2013.

Although I study biology and am going into the dental field, my hobbies and interests lie more within the realms of computer science and electrical engineering. As far as computers go, I think a person’s perfered software tells much abou them. I’m a huge python) guru and especially love working with data processing and representation using MatPlotLib which is totally, unbelievably, awesome. I love Linux. I usually use ubuntu, but I occationally use Gentoo, Slackware, Knoppix, Damn Small Linux, and even FreeBSD. I’m starting to get into InkScape too.

This “last summer” before dental school I’m trying to get as much geeky electro-techieness out of my system as possible. Optimally, by the end of the summer I’ll be totally sick of anything related to electonics, circuitry, or programming. Such an occurance would be convenient, being that dental school is a life-encompassing challenge, and I likely won’t have time to do anything creative for four years. Does that sound depressing? I guess I’m still a little apprehensive about the dental school / career. Hopefully I’ll enjoy it once I get started, but until you do how do you know?

After having this page for a few months, I realized I need more pictures of my wife Angelina!  Here are a few random shots pulled from facebook…

I’m using my last summer before dental school to dive into the fields of RF (radio) and microcontrollers. My wife and I got our ham radio licenses togethr in early 2009 (how cute). I’m KJ4LDF, she’s KJ4LDG. [update: I'm now AJ4VD] I’m began my dive into the microcontroller world by learning to program PICAXE chips with a high-level BASIC-type language. I’m now learning to program ATMEL AVR microcontrollers (such as the ATTiny2313 and ATMega8) in the lower-level C/C++ language, and might dive into the much-lower-level ASM (assembly) language. Although functionally impractical and borderline illegal, my motivation for bringing these two fields together is the quest to make some kind of weatherproof, long-term, solar-powered, low-frequency, low-power, QRSS-style radio beacon. I figure it will be a great way to learn about microcontroller programming and RF while also giving me the ability to sound dorky/geeky and say “I built an atonomous solar-powered QRSS beacon that broadcasts [temperature?] data continuously which can be heard for thousands of miles”.

I currently work in a molecular biology laboratory at the University of Central Florida (the same lab where I worked on my thesis) and… lunch break is up! I need to get back to work. Some old “about me” pages are below…

— OLD 2005 INFO —

Hi! My name’s Scott, but you’ve probably

figured that out already. This page of my website is devoted

to yours truly: the infamous blogging protagonist! Believe it or not,

I find myself having a really difficult time writing this page. Therefore,

I’ve decided to

take some of the pressure off of my words by inserting some pictures of

myself. Ladies and gentlemen, this is a big step for Scott. Never before

in the five year history of Scott’s website has he ever had more

than one picture of himself on his web server at any given time! So, sit

back, relax, and get to know Scott as you read…

This is supposed to be about my life, right?

Well, my life right now lies almost completely within the walls of college.

My plans are to get through medical school to become a doctor. Unfortunately

I’m not one of those people who are naturally smart; I have to work

really hard to get good grades. Therefore, in order to stay on top, I

find myself spending almost every waking moment working on homework, class

work, or studying. My projects are those of assignments and papers, my

fun is that of working to get things done, and my friends are people in

my various classes. My only vent is this website, my only escape is my

blog, and my only comfort is my writing. Therefore, the two things I spend

the most time on in my life are my schoolwork, and my website.

On the right you can see me standing by one of my professors from the

spring semester of 2005. Do I look short in the picture? Yeah, that’s

because I am. Next, you can see me to the left pictured amidst a geekfight

while dodging individual pieces of chalk Matrix style. I just noticed

that every picture I have of myself is one where I’m wearing jeans

and a red shirt. This is because that the only time I take my camera to

class is on special days (usually big exam days) where I know I’ll

be spending a few hours before class studying with classmates. While I’m

not superstitious, I am emotionally comforted by two certain shirts (both

of them being red). Thus, I’m wearing the same thing in almost all

of my pictures. I do change my clothes regularly. I bathe at least once

a day too. I just thought I should let everybody know that. Moving on…

Remember how I mentioned I’m short?

Okay, I’m not incredibly short. I’m about 5’4. I’m

built pretty thin, and I think it shows most in my bony wrists. It’s

all good though; I wouldn’t change a thing. I wear long pants every

day of my life. Rarely will I be seen at class in shorts of any type.

I think I’ve done it three or four times in the last year, but only

due to laundry issues. By my own choice, I wear jeans or long pants (usually

khaki) every day. Why? I don’t know. Some people (family, classmates,

etc) have commented that when I wear shorts I look like a little kid.

Well, being that I’m not the tallest man in the world and that I’m

not exactly the staple image of masculinity (despite the huge muscles

ripping from my arms) I’ll have to admit that they’re right.

I think it’s because my legs are thin going into my shoes. I don’t

know. When I wear long pants, I wear boots. I feel different with boots,

I don’t know why. Something else about me is that I only wear short

sleeve shirts when I have to. I love wearing long sleeve t-shirts and

sweatshirts because they make me feel cozy and secure, but living in Florida

it’s not too often I get the chance. When asked what they would

most want to change in their lives, a lot of people say they want to change

some physical feature about themselves… not me though; I’m

happy just the way I am. I might need a stepstool to kiss my bride, but

those things can be worked out down the road of course.

I think I’ll take a few lines to describe my

current dating situation.

And now, a few random tidbits about myself…

What’s your name? Scott

(the hot one)

For how many years have you been alive? 18

What day were you born? Sep 24, ‘85

What’s up with the rest of these questions? Well,

about six months ago I blogged that I wanted people to ask me questions to answer

for my new addition to the “about scott” page. The questions from

here on were emailed to me and some of them requested to remain anonymous. By

the way, sorry about that half-year delay in getting these questions up ^_^;;

How often do you talk on the phone? -Supergirl

Not often… you see I don’t like phones. I hate phones. Why? I’m horrible on

the phone! I have a hard time communicating on the phone… my mind drifts while

I’m talking and I end up rambling off the subject and answering questions

incorrectly

and, ahwg, I hate the phone. Therefore, I try to use the phone the least amount

possible. Because I use it so little, my phone skills never improve, and it’s

an endless downward spiral when it comes to my phone skills.

Scott, if you hated computers what would you spend your

time doing instead ? -Nick

Origami. I think, in many ways, origami is much like computers. It takes no

special skill to get good at it. Your success and admiration is directly related

to how much time and work you put into it. It’s peaceful in it’s redundancy

and relaxing at the same time. Ahh, origami, how fun.

If you could create an alter ego and forget that you were

Scott, what gender, race, age, and name would you be/have? -Nick

Wow, I think I’d love to be someone who’s like me in many ways, but is all the

things I wish I were with none of my weaknesses. It’d be a girl. She’d be half

Vietnamese and half Korean. She would be born in 84 (one year older than me)

and she would be named Misia. Sound familiar? ^_-

What is your purpose for making this website? -piro

I love being able to share the things I make and show the things I do. This

website is a little chunk of the internet I can call my own and it’s a place

I can go when I need something to hold on to ^_^ It’s comforting in many ways,

and provides a great reflection of who I am. I also think it’s cool how I can

use my little blog system in a way that lets me store the things I write and

the thoughts of my mind so I can look over them in the future. So, partially

for fun, partially for comfort, and partially for the archival of my mind. How’s

that for an answer?

What time do you usually take a crap? -Eric1207

Well I’ll have to be honest with you, I try not to take craps. I think stealing

is wrong. Even if it is just crap. You should always ask for permission before

taking someone’s crap.

Scott, you never swear in your blogs. Do you ever swear?

online and/or in person? -anonymous

I think I said swore once in my blog a few years ago. But, well, no, I try not

to say anything that could be taken offensively in my blogs. I try to make my

site family friendly for all ages and make it as warm and cozy as possible.

It might surprise you that over half of the people who contact me after finding

my website are girls between the ages of thirteen and fifteen. In person, I

do not swear (in English) ^_-

What type of toilet paper do you use? I need some of that

too. -Eric1207

I use Scott brand toilet paper, of course.

What kinda deodorant do you use? I need some new and am

looking for suggestions. -Eric1207

deodorant?

Do you like hats? -Supergirl

I don’t mind if other people wear them, but you will rarely see me in a hat.

I’ll use a hat if I need one for practical purposes (yardwork, trying to keep

sawdust out of my eyes) but I don’t wear hats on my own. I tried to about a

year and a half ago. But I don’t like the way they feel. I’d much rather wear

sunglasses and no hat

what is your favorite movie? -Supergirl

I’d have to say my top four are Mononoke Hime, Lain, My Sassy Girl, and Lovers’

Concerto.

Mononoke Hime – Ashitaka was portrayed as an awesome character. Favorite

line? “I was prepared the very moment I let my arrow fly”.

Serial Experiments Lain – This movie (6 and 1/2 hours long, led up

to the American “The Matrix”) really made a big impression on me for

some reason. My amount of monitors / computers can be directly linked to having

seen Lain at a certain point in my life.

My Sassy Girl – The story of a guy who met and became close with a

really cool girl without trying to. I can’t explain it more than that without

killing the movie. It was funny too. “Jillae?”

Lovers Concerto – How can I say this. This movie really reached out

and hit me hard. The story was incredible, and when the little boy in the hospital

was being rolled in to his final (fatal) operation and they stop and pull down

his covers and see the little girl beside him crying… wow, that was good.

What is your favorite book? -Supergirl

Battle Royale, the novel

Why dont you like to show that you are idle on AIM? -Scott

(the other one)

I get 100s of people IMing me every day. Most of them are strangers asking some

really stupid questions. I have my away message up constantly, and it’s a good

excuse to ignore them. If I enable my idle meter, than people can tell when

I’m really away and when I’m lying. I don’t want my privacy infringed upon line

that.

How many 3 char sns do you have? -ninja

About a half a dozen or so. I really don’t care much about 3chars. I just wrote

the software to crack them because I needed to learn vb.net and C#.net for work.

The names I have I got while “debugging” my software.

Is love truly real to women because they can sure fall

out of it in a second (you’d think its not real to them) -ninja

Yeah, I certainly do think it’s real to women. However, lots of girls these

days (and guys too) fall into the deceptive trap of thinking something is love

when it’s not. Love, I believe, rarely comes to people when they are young.

I think the strongest and deepest love comes a few years after being together

=o) If a woman can “fall out” of love, then it’s not really love in

the first place.

Are you a geek? -cyanoacry

If you mean it in the classical sense of the term of a tacky person who wears

strange clothes and uses glasses held together with masking tape, no.

If you’re referring to geek in the modern technical sense of the term, I sure

am! Having twelve computers, six monitors, a room full of computer junk, and

sleeping on the floor are some examples of how people might take me for a computer

geek / coder / hacker

If you overheard someone’s conversation, what 3 words

would you like to hear? -cyanoacry

Love. Death. Misia.

If you were an animal, what would you be? -cyanoacry

I’d be a small tiger. Chicks dig small tigers ^_-

Do you play ren’ai sims? (dating games) -cyanoacry

I absolutely do not. That would be very detramental to my life.

Do you consider anime a medium, and not a genre? -cyanoacry

I consiter well-made movies a medium, and lots of [successful] animes are very

well made movies in my opinion. If a movie has a story that is so good that

people don’t care it’s not real, then I’d say that’s a pretty good movie right

there. With anime, you have no choice but to make it a medium for thought and

emotion, otherwise it’s little more than cartoons on a screen. (dare I say…

winne the pooh?)

Have you ever tried photography? -cyanoacry

Nope, I never have. I never had good enough equipment to get good at it, so

I never bothered.

How smart do you consider yourself to be? -cyanoacry

Knowledgable in some areas, clueless in others, but always trying to learn.

Whose teachings of psychology do you follow? -cyanoacry

Jesus’

What time do you wake up? -cyanoacry

Usually I wake up between 6 and 7, even if I stayed up until 4am ^_^;

Who cooks breakfast for you, and what do you usually have?

-cyanoacry

I make my own breakfast. Usually Apple Jacks, Frosted Flakes, Rice Chex, or

whatever cerial I can find in the kitchen.

What foods do you like? -cyanoacry

Teryaki chicken, steak, and goldfish.

Is moldy cheese good? -cyanoacry

When you’re starving in the desert, anything looks good.

Have you ever tried origami? -cyanoacry

I sure have. I used to do it a lot when I was younger. I’d always take paper,

scissors, and glue into my 4′th grade class and make crazy things. No wonder

my teacher hated me.\

Do you consider being gay or lesbian okay? -cyanoacry

No, I do not. I don’t discriminate them or look lowly upon them, they’re people

too. But I do not agree with the choice of homosexuality.

are you gay? -anonymous

nope. Although some people get that impression by the fact that I don’t do a

whole lot with women, listen to music of girls singing opera, and whose favorite

genre of movie is the romantic comedy, I most certainly am not.

Why don’t you run track any more? -Supergirl

Well, believe it or not, I never wanted to run track in the first place. My

parents saw it on the list of activities in my [small] school and my mom suggested

that I check it out to support it. I didn’t want to, and I made it pretty clear.

Then my dad came home… He told me that I had to at least go once and try it

out. If I didn’t like it after the first day, I could quit. Well, I went the

first day, then decided to quit, but then my parents went back on the offer

X_x They said that I still could quit, but I wouldn’t be allowed to use the

computer or TV for a month. -_- Baka-Scott chose to keep his computer.

Is life just a part of the Matrix, or are we part of the

Japan Earth Simulatior? -cyanoacry

Life is part of the Japan Earth Silmuator. Of course.

How many books do you read on average every month? -cyanoacry

I rarely read entire books, but I usually crack 2 or 3 open.

Are Korean live-action films better than anime? (on average,

I know there’re exceptions for both) -cyanoacry

I like live-action asian movies more, because the women in them are realistically

pretty, instead of fictionally idealistic ^_-

Do you believe that CRTs discharge in a couple hours,

or take almost indefinitely? -cyanoacry

Well, everyone knows that they drain inverse-exponentially. Technically, they

never run out. However the charge gets to such a low level that it’s barely

existant by human-readable insturments.

Have you ever built a laser? -cyanoacry

No, I’d rather buy lasers. Like my ACME Universe Destruction Ray. I bough that

one. I haven’t used it yet. It’s on my list of things to do.

Are you good with optics? -cyanoacry

I just fixed a broken DVD Player =oD I’m certainly getting better.

What country are you originally from? -Munin

USA. Though I think it’d be cool to make some money here in America and move

to another country when I get older and live as a ‘wealthy’ person in a country

with a lower econemy ^_^

Are you really going to answer all of these questions,

or are you going to do “selective editing”? -anonymous

I select the questions I answer, but I do not edit them.

how many friends do you have that you consider being

True Friends?

Well, honestly? Right now, zero. I have some ‘closer’ friends, but I have no

one I see regularly or go places with or anything like that.

Do you like the Lord of the Rings movies? why or why not?

I think they’re just ok. They would be better if they didn’t have so much CG,

because these days it seems like THAT is the focous of the film and the conveyal

of the story is an afterthought.

Do you like the Star Wars movies? why or why not?

They’re all right. I’m not crazy about them, but they are fun to watch sometimes.

The new ones stink though. BIG time.

Who is your favorite band/singer?

Misia. (a woman who usually sings Japanese RNBish music)

fav song of hers: “everything”

Do you like rugbi? why or why not?

not really… because I don’t like sports

do you like Larry-boy from veggitales?

He’s ok. I think bob is funnier, because he seems so serious.

how long can you go without blinking? -Nick

I do it for many hours every night. You most likely tried to ask “how long

can your keep your eyes open without blinking”. I don’t know, 40 seconds?

that’s a guess.

Can you unwrap a starburst in your mouth -Nick

I never tried, but I can open a coke can with my tongue!

What is your favorite kind of candy -Nick

Butterfinger! mmmmm

do you like british spelling, like colour and favourite?

-Nick

nope, I like the american version. But I do write grey instead of gray and I

like drive thrus.

how much sleep do you get a night? -Nick

I’m good at getting at least 6 or 7 hours a night. Rarely more though.

If you listen to music and its not asian, what is it?

-Nick

old german Operas (with women singers, of course)

Are you proud to be an American? -Hope

Yeah! I’m not proud of some of the things that are floating around in the upper-level

legal system these days, but I do fully support America nonetheless.

How many girls have you kissed? -anonymous

0

When you move out of your parents house, do you want

to move to a different state or country? -Supergirl

Not immediately, but maybe a few years later I’d like to go to another country

and spend some time away from everything

Have you ever made anything out of anything? -anonymous

I tried to make a computer out of a gas can once.

Explain your perfect girl -anonymous

Wow, toughie. I try not to get too specific, because I want my eyes to be open

to all different possibilities, and I don’t want to limit out possible perfect

matches by adding stupid and/or shallow limitations =o) Bottom line, the number

one thing I would look for in a girl (who I’d like to build a relationship with)

is honesty. If a girl is genuinely honest, the rest generally falls into place.

Whats the most moving experience you’ve ever had (if you

say going to china, a dragon shall tickle your face with a feather while you

sleep!)? -anonymous

I once ran for twelve hours straight, got lost in the forest, climbed giant

trees, leaped off of cliffs, and wrestled with lions and tigers. Oh wait, that

was the day I installed Linux.

What is your ultimate goal in life? -Mitchel

To have and be able to easialy support a great family =oD

How do you plan on getting there? -Mitchel

Get through school. Get a job. Meet a girl. Get married. [censored]. Have kids.

Raise them well.

Do you like your life? Why? -Mitchel

Yeah, I really do. I have gotten it near perfection in my own mind. Over the

past few years, I’ve tried as hard as I could to limit the amount of uncontronalble

variables in my life. Most people describe their teenage life as a rollercoaster.

I’ve gotten mine down pretty well and I consider my life to be really stable.

The stability in a teenage life is great because it gives you what you need

to plan things and get things done! The only thing is that I do get really lonely

sometimes, but I usually distract myself into a project or something so I don’t

end up thinking about things like that. I wouldn’t change anything in my life

right now =o)

What do you look for in a potential spouse? (has to be

Asian, etc.) Why? -Mitchel

ABSOLUTELY NOT! No; what a horrible thing to say. Of course I wouldn’t put some

ethnic limit on who my wife would be. Like I mentioned earlier, honesty is really

important. Some other things are followthrough (which leads to commitment) and

intelligence. Some people who are really ditzy and act like air heads don’t

attract me. Some of my friends target girls like that, but I really hate it

when girls act stupid. I want my wife to be my best friend and somoene who I

can talk to with… The outward appearance (ethnicity) shouldn’t be a factor.

When did you start this site? Why did you? -Mitchel

I started my first website when I was 11, so I could brag “I have a website”

(I used “aolpress” to make it XD)

What makes you happy? -Mitchel

brown paper packages all wrapped up with string.

What does your life involve now? (school, work, etc.)

-Mitchel

sleep. wake. shower. eat. school. home. study. eat. repeat.

What are your hobbies? -Mitchel

computer, music, staring into space.

What’s your family like? -Mitchel

I have to admit I’ve got a pretty cool family. Everyone in my family (with the

exception of a set of grandparents and an aunt) lives within 15 minutes of my

house. Most live within 3 miles of my house. I see my family a lot and because

of this, I get to know them pretty well. When it comes to the relationship of

my parents, I try to keep it the best I can because I know that while I’m living

with them, they’re the #1 impact on my life. A bad relationship with my parents

could backfire and make my life really uncomfortable, so I’m trying to appease

them the best I can ^_^

What’s your home life like? -Mitchel

I stay in my room the 98% of the time. Sometimes, I go out to eat. I go to the

restroom every once and a while too.

Do you like music? If yes, what kind? -Mitchel

Oh yeah, I listen to music 23/7! Mainly Japanese contemporary, Korean vocal

stuff, or Chinese and European trance.

how long have you been using computers ? -ebawho

I was two when I first played DOS games on my grandfather’s computer. He had

a 1200bps modem too!

what would you rather have, a powerbook, or a dell notebook?

-ebawho

For free? I’ll take the powerbook. It’s so useless though! But it is worth a

TON of money. I’d take it, and sell it. I’d buy a dell notebook with some of

the money I get from it, and pocket the rest. That way, I’d get a better computer

AND some extra cash =oD

How many planets are there scott? -Candy

I think Earth is the only planet with a scott on it, actually.

Would you ever date someone with a pet chicken? -Candy

If it were a really special girl, I think I could live with the chicken.

Do you like tacos? -Candy

They’re ok. I’d rather have a BK Whopper.

Is ThIs AnNoYiNg? -Candy

yes. always. unless I’m the one doing it XD

Would you ever go Sky Diving? -Candy

Why would I want to jump out of a perfectly good airplane?!

Are you going to Japan anytime soon? -Candy

probably not… I’d rather go to another area of Asia that’s less developed

Do you think War is really worth it? -Candy

If it’s worth it, it’s worth it. Things like the war in Iraq? Heck yeah! I mean,

seriously. I don’t get the logic of these “pro-peace” people who protest

the war in Iraq. If we don’t settle the problems over there, tons more people

will die in America. “pro-peace” is the opposite of that. This so

called “peace” now will result in a massacre later. Plus, total passivism

only works if everyone is passivist – an impossibility by the very nature of

the human race.

How many people do you chat with that you would consider

a friend? -Candy

None. I try to keep a wall between my online ‘friends’ and the real world. Ultimately,

‘online friends’ are rarely there for you when you need them.

How many cats do you own? -Candy

I have three of the little spawns of satan at the moment.

Do you think the Vikings will ever win a super bowl?

Well, I hear they eat a lot. Maybe if they win a contest, they’ll get that bowl.

Do you think there will be ever peace on Earth?

yes: the 1000 year reign.

Do you like to play with fire?

Don’t all little boys?

When was the last time you got sick?

last summer I ate bad chicken from BK. I got really sick, was in bed for a week,

and lost nine pounds. Yes, I dipped under 100lb. I could go on a commercial

though. “I lost 9 pounds by eating at BurgerKing!”

Are you sick of all my questions yet Scott? -Candy

No of course not 0=o)

Are you now? -Candy

Ok, yeah, maybe just a little.

Are you a Christian? -Supergirl

I certainly am!

what is your fav. color? -Jenny Murphy

blue. no! yellowwwwwwwww….

What is your obsession with correcting peoples bad grammar?

-aznbeady

I think grammar is a direct sign of intelligence. Spelling, no. Grammar? yes.

I have a peeve with people who can’t even speak their own language correctly.

Although I openly admit I’m not perfect when it comes to grammar, I really get

annoyed with other people repeatedly say things incorrectly.

What do you use to split your internet connection from

your router if it only has two LAN cards? A hub maybe? -aznbeady

I use a router I built o take in the internet in nic1, split it and serve it

on nic2, and I plug nic2 into a 16 port hub.

Who’s the most recent person you have had a crush on?

-aznbeady

Ritsuko ^_^;;; She is hot when she’s on her computer. I’ll have to post a picture

of her in my blog soon.

will you help my friends and I make a PWC? o_o -Shadow

I absolutely will not. If you’re going to try to learn how to program a hacker

or cracker of some sort, you should at least do it yourself. Google is all the

help anyone needs to do something simple like that =o)

Umm… is this your way of getting our Ip’s? -anonymous

I don’t know, 24.95.227.63, you tell me.

Why did the chicken cross the road? -ur secret admirorer

who cares? Scott has a secret admirorer? This is news!

How can I be like you! -Phrone

1.) do not watch TV for 1 month.

2.) do not play any games whatsoever.

3.) do not go anywhere with ‘friends’

4.) do not sleep in a bed (use the floor)

5.) do not complain about having no life! cherish it =oD

Scott will you fix my computer? -anonymous

no

Boredom? -T0ny

unfathomable.

Why is scotch tape “scotch”? -anonymous

well ya’ know, hundreds of years ago someone walked up to a magic tree and realized

“hey, a really hot guy will walk the earth around the second melennium

and I think we’ll add a touch of greek irony by making him perpetually dateless”.

He then was inspired to write the ingredients used in creating tape, and called

it Scotch.

why do you plague our planet, ALIEN SCUM! -Nick

Don’t freak out man. I’ll return to my home planet soon enough. You simple,

carbon-based earthlings.

- – - – - 2002 – - – -

What’s your name? Scott Harden

Why the heck did you get Scott Is Hot dot com?!

I won a contest writing this

article and got two years free of any domain name I wanted. It was late,

and I talked myself into getting www.ScottIsHot.com I haven’t yet figured out

if it’s an aid or detrament to my dating life.

How old are you? why, interested? (lame joke)

I’m 18 (sep 24, ‘85)

How tall are you? 5′6” and two twenty-thirds

Where’re ya’ from? Orlando, Florida

Do you have any sibblings? a 14 year old sister

(biological) and a 2 year old sister (adopted)

What kind of music do you like? I like lots of

types of music, except that American stuff. Yuk. I listen to mainly Japanese

contemporary stuff, European trance, Dutch techno, and sometimes I tune into

shoutcast servers from China or Korea.

So what do you do in your free time? computer.

Sometimes I’ll watch a movie… on my computer… I really like movies with

intricate plots that make you think about them days after you watch the movie.

I’m also open to suggestions for movies. I’ll watch anything (as long as it’s

not TOO bad) and give it an honest shot. If you have a movie you think I should

check out, email me the title of it and I’ll download it and watch it (at my

convenience)

What do you look like? uhh, not really short

[denial]. Really muscular [delusion] Incredibly attractive [ok, this is weird

now]. Starting over. I’m 5′6” as it says earlier. I have short dark blond hair…

My last haircut made me look a little different. I only got the top trimmed

and the sides weren’t touched. Why? Well don’t tell anybody… but it’s all

a part of the process of growing it out. I’m not gonna have a pony tail, but

I’m gonna see about growing it out a little bit ^_^ I’m barely over 100 pounds,

so I’m a little guy. Pretty thin. Without my shirt, from a distance people are

amazed at my abs. Upon closer inspection, the realization that they’re my ribs

is an interesting transition.

Do you have a girlfriend? That’d be a negative

captain.

Well do you want a girlfriend? I’d like to find

someone I can enjoy talking and being with, despite the title =o)

Where do you go to school? At the moment, I’m

in the summer after 11′th grade. I’m taking sumer school classes at a local

college and next year I’m taking all of my classes at the college. I’ll technically

still be in high school though. The advantave of dual-enrolling is that I can

take a class like english, for example, and have it count for high school AND

college. Basically, I do my last year of highschool at college and it gets me

a year ahead in my classes when I graduate!

Are you into sports? Uhh, no. Not in the least.

I never really cared much about sporty.. stuff. Partially because I enjoyed

spending time on things that are developed mentally, and partially because I

majorly stink at everything remotely related to sports XD

What’s with all the references to Asian women? Do you

only like Asian women or something? For the first, the second, and

the last time, no. I’m an Equal Opportunity Loser: I become attracted to and

get rejected by women of all races.

Do you have any pets? Yes, actually. I have small

hairy demons. Little spawns of satan all wrapped in fur. They look small, but

they’re vicous. Three cats. Siamese. Two females and one of them had kittens

and we gave all but one away so we have three. One of the cats came pregnant,

no, the two female cats did not concieve on their own. Three little cats slinking

around. Man, I hate those things /hisss/

What’s a nonsport game which you enjoy? Yahoo!

checkers. I could do that for minutes on end.

What’s the coolest experience you’ve had in your life?

December of 2002 I went to China. My family adopted a small girl from China

(2) and we all flew to China to get her. We spent two weeks in China because

we had to process paperwork and get a passport for the new member of the family

etc. It was amazing. I found it fascinating to watch the other people and see

how they live and watch as they’d partake in their customs. My parents and sister

hated China. They didn’t like being there. I loved it though, I want to go back

to China – or some other Asian country… /cough/ Japan /caugh/ My family

goes nuts on vacataions to the beach, mountains, or Carabbean – but in my mind,

it was nothing like the experiences I had in China.

What’s your shoe size? 7 and 1/2 ^_^;;;;

What’s the stupidest thing you’ve ever done?

I was about five and it was nighttime and I went in the garage with a handfull

of tacks. I guess I just wanted to know what’d happen the next morning if I

left them under my mom’s tire…

How about the stupidest thing you’ve ever done for a woman?

After incessant begging, I wrote a small trojan virus for a girl to

infect her friend (so she could snoop her email). Unfortunately, I was young

and unskilled and the girl’s virus scanner detected it and broke that friendship

and the girl flammed at me X_x

What character traits do you look for most in a girl?

humm, interesting question. I think it all biols down to one thing though: honesty.

Lying to someone you’re in a relationship with really eats away at the bond

and makes it difficult to grow, and if left burried, slowly desolves the foundation

of a relationship until it’s discovered – then crash*. Honesty I find important

- but some things I like are intelligence, outgoingness, coolheadedness, and

interests that somewhat overlap mine. Intelligence – ditzy people who do nothing

but follow fads and their friends – man, that drives me nuts! Outgoingness -

nothing too crazy, just not too shy – I like a woman that can say what she’s

thinking =o) Coolheadedness. If something goes wrong or catches someone off

guard – screaming, name calling, and frantic ranting gaing nothing but problems

- I like a girl who can remain calm and think clearly through whatever happens

^_^

What’s your favorite song? I’d have to say Halfworld,

by Splashdown. (since ‘01)

What’s your favorite color? blue… no… yellooooow.

Actually, I like black. Weird ‘eh?

What’s your favorite food? Goldfish. MMMMmmMMmmmMMMMmmmm.

After that, I’d have to say chicken teriyaki. Actually, I like almost all Asian

foods, and will try anything if it’s to be eaten with chipsticks.

What’s your favorite fast food restaurant? Dragon

King. Little hole-in-the-wall Chinese resturaunt with good food. “You won chop

sik?” the Asian (cambodian) woman asks every time I go there.

What’s your least favorite food? Tomato. Yuck!

Anything with tomato is yuck. This includes many itallian dishes like spaghetti

and lasagna. Even pizza with a lot of red sause is disliked.

What’s your favorite TV show? Gary the rat. New

show on TNN. It’s friggin’ halarious

My favorite movie of all time is: Akira

What’s your favorite candy? Butterfinger!

What are your career goals? Finish up college

with a degree in computer engineering.

What’s the thing that the most people misunderstand about

you? I’d have to say the reasoning behind racial preferences in women

^_^;If I could change one thing about myself (besides being in prison!), I’d

change

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would

it be? The ability to be with groups of people my age comfortably,

and relate to them. Basicaly, I wish I could make friends easialy.

What is the thing that you worry about most?

The future. Girlfriend /ghasp!/ Marrage. Family. Children. Scary.

If you were driving by a crowd of women and were to yell

something outloud, what would it be? doubble you doubble you doubble

you dot scott is hot dot com!

- – - – - 2001 – - – -

note: This was recovered from one of my backup

cds. It was written when I just turned 16

name: Scott

age: 16 (sep. 24, ‘85)

height: 5′5” //though the doctor said i was 5′4” =op

weight: 107lb

eyes: two of them

eye color: bluegreen, isn’t that hazel?

hair: generally short, but I’m growing it out at the moment.

humor: extremely dry

smile: 8 years of braces X_x but now they’re off finally and

I’m allright

shoe size: okokok I’m a 7 and 1/2 so what big deal

clothes: I normally wear long pants but never jeans, and a

tshirt (short or long sleve) of some sort.

accessories: isn’t accessories a girl term? ehh who cares.

I always wear my watch, and I try to go everywhere with at least one pair of

headphones. If not around my head they are around my neck lightly resting on

my shoulders. I wear sunglasses (minute, silver/black) when I drive or use the

computer, not so much around people though. Around the computer it breaks the

wind from my fan and causes less eye irritation from dust blowing around in

the tornado of my room.

where you can see me: in my room. occasionally forced to drive my 14

year old sister somewhere X_x other than that, I try not to go out much. Other

than that I don’t really do much around other people.

where you will not see me: large social events related to or

with a teenage group. School events, dances, parties, etc. I don’t do well..

in places like that. You will not see me buying software. I see no reason in

supporting closed software writers who make a living from cheating individuals

of thier money in exchange for a waste of code. “Would you buy a car with the

hood welded shut?” Closed source is a waste of intelligence. I am never seen

at the mall alone, I am always dragged (sometimes happily) by somone, always

female ^_^

what I do for fun: I work. Getting things done and getting

things accomplished gives me an awesome feeling. I normally work on my computer

or something relating thereof. Working on a new computer, writing software,

coding a website, watching anime (that I download) or something along those

lines. If I’m bored I usually pop open Gimp or Photoshop and make wallpaper.

It’s so relaxing. I don’t watch anime to relax. Watching anime is too much work

for my brain ^_^

peeves: number one thing that bothers me the most is when people

brush thier teeth in places other than the bathroom. I was recently in the living

room when a guest (my sisters friend) walked out in the living room with her

toothbrush. A few months ago while on a trip with another family the man brushed

his teeth while making breakfast. My dad brushes his teeth in the garage and

in the car. Just brush your teeth in the bathroom. I also really don’t like

it when I see people hop around boyfriends and girlfriends. Having a boy or

girlfriend is one thing… but its really annoying hearing people speak of thier

‘relationships’ where the longest ones last a week or so. It just seems immature,

I don’t know how. Every new relationship they get in they think is amazing and

will last forever… until a week later, then they have someone else who’s even

better. Something else that bothers me is when people sing with headphones.

First of all, its annoying to those who have to listen to your voice. And you

can’t even hear yourself, so why do it? Mouthing words with headphones is also

really annoying. The point in that is…? I also cringe when i hear blatently

wrong grammar. I know this people cannot help as much. But the main thing that

drives me crazy is when people say something like “there’s a lot of cars on

the road” and it makes me want to shrivel up. “There is cars” is terrible grammar.

You say “There are cars” therefore you would always say “there’re a lot of cars

on the road”. There’re, not there’s. One more thing that drives me nuts is when

people abbreviate everything when they speak on the computer. using ‘u’ and

‘r’ instead of ‘you’ and ‘are’ gives the appearance of being unintelligent.

But what’s worse is when people who acclaim to being ‘leet’ use leet speak.

Leet speak is just another way to say ‘I think I’m something really big’. Do

people actually believe that hackers +yP3 1I|<3 +|-|15 (type like this)?

I mean that has to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard of in my entire life..

probably the dumbest thing in the entire history of the universe

music: give me something with a soft melody that is easy to

listen to. Hard rock, punk, acid, how can you comfortably listen to these? You

cannot. I listen to relatively soft music, sometimes without words, sometimes

with words. If I like a song with words It’s usually with a soft voice of a

female. I don’t know.. I just can’t comfortably listen to a guy singing to me

in a high voice… ::blink:: most of the music I listen to is Japanese. There

is a story how I started getting into it, but, its way too long to type here.

Japanese music is nice because you can really listen to the music and you can

listen to the girl’s voice. American music in general is extremely stupid. Ever

try listening to the lyrics of this stuff? It’s so shallow. It really kills

the music in my opinion. I have looked up many english translations of Japanese

music and it’s pretty interesting. Definately not shallow (unless its a japanese

remake of an american song in which case the americans were the stupid ones

=op). But its just a lot easier to listen to in general… and there’s so much

good music there. When I listen to american music its usually light trance.

Cynic project and stuff… also around the lines of Splashdown (pretty much

unknown group). The singer, melissa, sings in a combonation of english and hebrew.

Check my music page for some of my favorite songs.

movies: I have a strange sense of movies I like. You see, I rate movies 100%

by the plot. If you were to take away the special effects and the overpaid actors

and had just the plot written in a book, what would there be? If the plot alone

is captivating and makes you think days after you read it, then the movie is

also deep and with a really good plot. These are the kind of movies I go for.

I’ve found that asian movies are pretty cool in that manner, yes, mainly Japanese

movies that’re, yes animated. The style of movie production means nothing, its

the plot that captivates me. I watch a movie like spiderman or something and

I come out thinking “and I would care about this because….?” A movie like

memento or titan ae (ever use those 2 in the same sentence?) actually makes

you think! Those movies are a lot better than the average braindead media that

hollywood tries to spoon feed american teenagers. All these teen movies, american

pie, I mean come on get a life. Comedies are funny but you come out of them

and what is there? For light viewing comidies are allright, but I’d much prefer

a serious movie with an intricate plot. Ghost in the Shell… incredible movie,

made ya’ think. Serial Experiments Lain was a 12 episode series that I loved.

It made ya’ try to keep your sanity it was so complex =o) It was like a 6 hour

“The Matrix” with a more intricate plot. In fact, it came out before The Matrix,

and many think The Matrix started because of the Lain series. They’re so close…

Interesting isn’t it? Noir was a light series that made you think a little.

I’m not going to even TALK about Neon Genesis Evangelion that’s like a suicide

pill =oD start that and your life goes bye bye haha. Those who have seen it

know what I mean. It’s amazing though… whoever wrote that did in AMAZING job

creating passionate emotions.. love, fear, hate, peace, hopelessness… all

at the same time. Allright this box has gotten long I’d better stop.

favorite food: I really like goldfish. I eat, breath, and sleep goldfish.

Goldfish are the best. I am working on building a PC inside a goldfish box.

I also like chinese/japanese food. It’s just an excuse to use chopsticks ^_^

favorite drink: soy milk. ok so I lied. I like mountain dew, dr. pepper,

code red, coke, lemon pepsi, pepsi, and mr pib. in that order. I have never

in my entire life had more than one sip of coffee. I am deathly afraid of drinking

a cup of it, for, I know I will get addicted.

problems: I used to have trouble finishing things but then

I
