I’m loved!

Well I’ll start out explaining my title. I have gotten countless IMs the last 2 days “where’ve you been?” “why don’t you update your weblog?” “scott you’re being lazy, write!”, etc. Ok, well, maybe not counteless IMs, but I’ve gotten at least 10. It always amazes me that in any given day I’ll get ims from about 20 different people, and I only have about 7 on my buddy list XD It works out well though. There’s no real reason for me to add everyone to my list. It sure cuts down on extraneous convos. And anyone who wants to IM me sure can! Though I don’t really care for the windows AIM client, and the whole aim concept isn’t that great (waste of time), it sure it a nice convenient way for anyone to contact me (or leave a message) at any time of the day.

Well, I got someone recently suggesting that I put more space between paragraphs. My natural response would be a quick “oh go lick a wall socket”, but when I thought about it more and more, it seemed like a good idea. So, here’s to you!

Here is a picture of my english comp II class. Ok so I lied. If you dont understand, take a close look at the picture. Notice how many people there are? Anything in common? Gender? Ethnicity? Moving right along, school’s going well. I met someone I knew at lunch today. It was nice talking to someone. Lunches with nothing to do seem to drag out time. Something interesting, however. He had a TG (www.ThinkGeek.com) tshirt on. I had to hand it to the guy, that’s pretty cool to wear a black thinkgeek shirt in the middle of the summer! That’s determination! It made me want to cry. I wanted to give a speech that would one day become famous, about the rise of the machines aginst us humans. But I had this itch on my earlobe and I didn’t feel up for giving a giant speech at the time. I realized I have 5 ThinkGeek shirts that I have never worn on campus. My family (mainly my sister) glomps, clobbers, tackles… I can’t think of the word. Picture a giant flying squirl leaping off a tree and langing on me causing me to crash to the ground. Me wearing a TG shirt would be “devastating to my social status”, she claims. Seems like a valid claim. But after a moment’s pause, I finally asked myself. “what social status?” ^_^

You know what I realized I hate? It’s not a peev – it’s something different. I hate it, yet I’m somehow fascinated by it. Walking from Comp II to Gvmnt today, I was stick in a narrow hallway in a cluster of people moving in my direction. The little groups of peple (2 or 3) would be talking to eachother and I (not being rude, but just out of boredom) find myself catching bits and pieces of convo. And my, was it boring. But then, in front of me, 3 girls start going off in Chinese, then laughing a lot. “dang, I wish I knew Chinese”. I felt so left out XD Then, on my right, 2 people are laughing and talking in Thai. “dang, I wish I knew Thai”. And, to top it off, behind me, 2 people were talking in czechoslovakian. “dang, I wish I knew how to at least spell that on my own”. It’s not like I hate being around it, I like it somehow, it fascinates me – but I have a strange desire… a longing… to know how to talk in a foreign language. No, spanish does NOT count as a foreign language =op

A problem I’ve been having for many years is this: my room is the only room with a summer-sun facing window (that happens to be 5 feet wide and 12 feet tall). The heat in my room in the summer is AMAZING. Why’s it so bad? As if that freaking window weren’t enough, my room is the only room in the house that does NOT have AC. Well, technically, it has a vent, but it’s been broken ever since I’ve lived here. (0 air comes out). In the summer, the heat in here is so bad, even with 2 full time fans on I have to wear lite shorts and a tshirt to try to stay cool – and even so, in the daytime, my hair dripps sweat while simply sitting at my computer.

Obvious solution? Yeah, well, 2, actually. We could get someone out here to see about fixing my ac. But that costs money. However, I’d happily pay a few hundred bucks to get ac in my room. It’s miserable in here in the summer. I come here for lunch or to look up something, and when I leave to go somewhere I either have to change my clothes or live with the sweat all over them. The other alternative is a small ac unit for my room. I could put it in the bottom of my window. It’d work out great, and be hidden, since a desk covers the base of my window and bushes cover the bottom of the window from outside. However when I mentioned it to my parents, my mom was ok with iy, my dad said no…

Obvious cause? Computers. No freaking teenager has 10 computers in his room. It is hot in his room. Therefore, the comptuers cause the heat. My dad really don’t agree with my having more than 1 computer in the first place, so a few years ago when i first brought up the “lets do something about the temp” issue, the answer was a firm “no dont talk to me about it again” /shrug/

So, why’d I bring it up again? Well I have some new info. Kelly’s friend was over a few nights ago, and I hate having people watch my sleep XD I closed my door all night. Also, I note, I had more comps in my room than ever before. Well, middle of the night, can’t sleep, go get some water, and I notice something… Even with door closed and all heat locked in my room – it’s the same temp as the kitchen… I think 99.5% of the heat of my room is from the sun / no ac, which also explains why its only hot in the day, and fine at night. With this new info, I tried talking to my parents about it again. My mom thought it’d be something worth fixing, my dad (after a long ‘talk’) pulled the “no, no matter what you say or show or prove to me, my answer will never change” /shrug/ I’m not sure what to do, and its getting pretty bad in here these days. Yes, its true, his comment “it’s only bad like this 5 months out of the year.” but jeez! this is really stupid. If it’d happened to any place he spends any time he’d have fixed it instantly -_- I’m not sure where to go with this one, not much I can do unless…

OPERATION HIRRICANE RETALLIATION
mission objective: to cool scotts room by ventalating it instead of truly cooling it
mission results: scotts room will cool off, other rooms in house will get hotter
mission steps:
1.) purchase 3 monster-power mini 12” floor circular fans
2.) place fans side by side
3.) turn on fans full blast
4.) observe cold air rush in, and hot hair flood the rest of the house.
mission failure options:
a.) use ice water to place bare feet in while sitting at desk
b.) move out of here
note 1: a sounds bad, I’m already pretty sick, I dont know if that sounds healthy.
note2: b is starting to look better and better

and with that, I depart! goodnight, strange world.
